Who is Australia’s best party rocking DJ? Red Bull Thre3Style is an international DJ comp with a twist – it’s not just about the technical skills, but about who can rock the party the best, playing 3+ genres in a 15 minute set. Red Bull Thre3Style returns to Australia after five state qualifiers and a national final saw Melbourne’s DJ Perplex take out the crown.
Red Bull Thre3Style is an invitation-only DJ comp, which will see five state qualifiers, held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth throughout June. Each qualifier will host six of the best DJs in that state, battling to make it through to the Red Bull Thre3Style National Final, in Melbourne in July.
There is one simple rule – the DJs must play at least three genres of music in a 15 minute set, with one simple objective – to rock the house! There are no restrictions on which genres of music are chosen so long as the DJ can make them work together. The DJs are judged by an expert panel consisting of local music industry professionals. The judging criterion includes track-selection, technical skills, originality, creativity and most importantly, the DJ’s ability to bring the house down! It doesn't matter if they know all the DJing tricks and techniques in the book, if they can’t get everyone on the dance floor, they don’t stand a chance of winning!
The five winners from each state will win a $1000 cash prize and a berth in the Australian Thre3style final, with the overall national winner taking home an extra $2000 cash plus an all-expenses paid trip to compete against the world's best in Chicago.
